Checking things off my list

I love my new phone! Mostly because it keeps me away from my laptop. Which means I'm away from Facebook games. Which means I get more done. I of course have a couple of games on my phone, but I'm just not drawn to them, and they aren't constantly reminding me to tend to them. LOL! I have Remember the Milk on my phone which is where I put my daily to-do list. Since it's on my phone I check things off while still standing up. I'm not tempted to sit, and just take a peak and what is going on in Facebook land. I got half of an assignment done this morning. I say half because I need to run out and get a couple of missing things for my doula bag and take some pictures. Then it will be done!

I submitted two that I was just sitting on last week. They are graded already. Demetria at Birth Arts International is always on top of it! I'm so glad I went with her program. I never feel like I don't have someone to answer my questions, and a lot more is included in our training than in some of the others. I'm sure they are all great programs, but BAI was definitely a right fit for me.

Weekend fun!

We ended up spending the weekend in a Hotel this weekend. So much exhausting fun! We swam almost all day on Friday. The kids were quiet during dinner, and Cyan ate like I've never seen. It was a salt water pool, and I must say I liked it much better than the usual chlorine pool. I can swim in it without my eyes swelling shut right away.

Saturday morning we got up at the crack of dawn, and headed over the baby expo. I made up a hundred chap sticks with my logo on them, and they are gone! Hopefully, I get a client or two from that. I wish I had taken a picture of the finished product, but I do have one from the half way point.

Then we headed over to the new Parkview Hospital, and took a tour. It's pretty cutting edge. My dear husband spent the entire time inspecting the workstations that he has been working on getting online. I guess red stickers mean they are ready to go, and the boxes of computers that are still showing up, and have no desks...well that is way construction goes. We did a little driving after that, and then dinner, a little more swimming, ice cream, and then sleep!

Sunday mostly involved driving around and looking for rentals. Near the end we decided to head into the Verizon store since we had already decided to get new phones. We ended up walking out with two pretty new Androids, and a service plan. I have a phone now that gets txts the same day they were sent! I can also video chat with it, which means I will be able to talk to clients while they are in labor and asses how they are doing before I even get to them from where ever I am. That is a big plus!

Balancing act

I'm doing that fun juggling act of balance the kid's stuff, my doula business , our family stuff, and keeping up with the day to day chores that we must do to keep any kind of foundation under our feet. Last week I spent a good portion of my days cleaning the house. Both in the sense of cleaning out dirt, and cleaning out chaos energy that seems to be building up. It seems to have worked out pretty well. Things are humming along in new and interesting ways around here.

Gabe and Karl are working on scouting stuff. The first Pack meeting was last weekend, and I'm hoping Karl will get on figuring out a meeting place here really soon. He offered to be leader now he needs to step out of his comfort level and lead! The first parent meeting for the school is tonight. I hope I don't forget by tonight! The dad group is on Friday. Cyan is taking a dance class this fall, and it starting to think about actually going out with the other kids. I won't pressure her though. Children with anxiety do not do well with being told to just do it.

My workshop was well written, and ready to go. No one showed though! I was scheduled for the end of the day, and people were pretty much gone by then. I think I need to do some things differently with it. I would make an excellent web page though, so I think that is what I will do with it. Nothing is ever lost right? I'm of course working on my education, but I am also going to begin working harder on marketing. Making sure I schedule into my day is going to be key. I know my stuff. I just need to work on getting clients to be able to find me!

We spent a good portion of this weekend at ArtPrize. It's such a fantastic time. We still didn't even get near seeing everything, and we were out there all day on Saturday and half of yesterday. I guess we'll just have to go back!
